How to Get Higher Satisfaction from Customized Ultrasound Lifting

According to the '2024 Wellness Trends' report published by a global consulting firm, one in five US consumers and one in three US millennials prefer personalized products and services. This trend is not limited to the US. Demand for personalized services is growing worldwide, and the field of aesthetic treatments is no exception.

Among aesthetic treatments, ultrasound lifting is an area with high demand for personalized treatment. This is because results can differ depending on which layer — epidermis, dermis, or fascia — the ultrasound is delivered to, and how much.

Experts agree that closely examining each individual's skin condition comes first in achieving the desired results from ultrasound lifting. If the patient's facial bone structure, skin thickness, and fat volume are assessed by the naked eye alone, there is a risk of error during the procedure. Recently, more specialists are using state-of-the-art devices to reduce error and increase treatment satisfaction.

Dr. Kim Ji Eun of NANA Plastic Surgery said, "A representative example is Ultherapy, the lifting device from Merz Aesthetics Korea. Its patented real-time imaging technology allows the practitioner to see the patient's skin layers immediately while performing the treatment."

Ultrasound lifting works by delivering ultrasound energy to the fascia layer, where it forms thermal coagulation points that contract the skin tissue, promoting collagen regeneration and improving skin elasticity. If the ultrasound energy is not properly delivered to the fascia layer, the lifting effect may be reduced or thermal energy may be applied to unintended areas.

Dr. Kim said, "With Ultherapy, ultrasound can be delivered precisely according to the individual's skin structure, enabling efficient and safe lifting treatment." Another advantage is the variety of tips — 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5mm — which are useful for different skin depths.

Dr. Kim explained, "Even among people of the same age, the intensity and depth of ultrasound delivery differ according to the degree of skin sagging, the size and shape of the cheekbones, the level of nasolabial folds or hollow cheeks, the shape of the jawline and jowls, and the amount of fat. For a safe and satisfying treatment, it is important to establish an appropriate treatment plan for each condition through thorough consultation with the medical team."
