Rhinoplasty: Finding the Most Ideal Nose Shape for Your Face Is Key
NANA Plastic Surgery Views:1762

[Star Daily News = Reporter Gyu-jun Hwang] A high, sharp nasal bridge is sometimes seen as a standard of beauty. Even those without an upturned, deviated, or bulbous nose often consider rhinoplasty to improve their overall image and make their features more defined.

The most important thing in rhinoplasty is to realize the height, shape, and line that suit your own face rather than following trends. Even if you pay a high fee for surgery at a clinic famous for nose surgery, if the resulting nose looks artificial and is simply high without suiting your face, the result may be unsatisfactory.

An aesthetically beautiful nose has a length one-third that of the face, dividing the face into three equal parts from the forehead to the eyebrows to the chin, and the ideal width of the nostrils is about one-fifth of the face width. The profile is also very important. Since a nasal tip slightly higher than the bridge and tilted upward gives an attractive impression, the most ideal profile has a lip-to-tip angle of 95–105 degrees and a columella-to-tip angle of about 45 degrees.

The nose looks natural and beautiful only when it harmonizes with the face shape and all the other features, yet most people think first of surgery to raise the nose when they hear 'rhinoplasty.' In fact, there are many different rhinoplasty methods for creating the ideal nose for you.

First, when augmenting the bridge, it is best to operate on the tip as well so that the overall nose shape is prettier, which creates harmony with the face. If the bridge height is fine but the nose is short, the tip is low or blunt, or the nose looks wide because the alar cartilages are spread apart, it helps to consider tip surgery such as alar reduction. Corrective surgery is also needed when the bridge protrudes or is wide, when the nose is deviated, or when the tip is crooked.

If you have already had nose surgery but are unhappy with the shape or have developed side effects, it is important to choose the appropriate revision method through precise diagnosis and consultation. Since revision surgery is even more demanding, you must find an experienced specialist.

Dr. Hyung-jun Kim of NANA Plastic Surgery emphasized, "Surgery should proceed in the direction of improving weak points through a personalized nose design that considers all three factors: height, shape, and line." He added, "A natural nose shape can be achieved by putting patient safety first and choosing the implant and surgical method suited to each individual's nose."
