Facial Contouring Surgery Demands Precision: Customized Surgical Planning and Safety Are Key
NANA Plastic Surgery Views:1280

As face shape has come to be seen as an increasingly important element of appearance, interest in facial contouring surgery has been growing. Facial contouring is a plastic surgery procedure that improves the face shape by modifying the shape of the facial bones, and many people choose it for cosmetic purposes.

Facial contouring surgery requires a customized approach in many respects, and a tailored surgical plan must be established that takes into account each patient's face shape, gender, and desired image. A variety of methods are used to improve the face shape, including cheekbone reduction, square jaw reduction, genioplasty (chin surgery), and cortical osteotomy.

Cheekbone reduction pushes in excessively protruding cheekbones while preserving the volume of the front cheekbone area, creating optimal volume and a smooth line from every angle, front and side. Square jaw reduction appropriately resects the area of maximum jaw volume to create a curved jawline for a small, slim V-line face shape.

Genioplasty creates a balanced, natural facial line by improving the length and volume of the chin to suit the facial proportions, and the facial proportions must be adjusted taking into account the length, width, and degree of protrusion of the chin. Cortical osteotomy removes the outer cortex of the jawbone, slimming even the thickness of the bone, which can produce a visible effect from the front as well.

Because facial contouring surgery is highly complex and must take into account the facial bones, soft tissue, blood vessels, and nerves, a delicate and precise diagnosis and safe surgery are extremely important. To that end, precise surgical planning and the surgical process must be carried out by experienced medical staff using state-of-the-art equipment.

Although this surgery can bring about a major change in face shape, it should not be chosen lightly, as the difficulty of the surgery and the variation in results are considerable. It is important to find the appropriate surgical method for each individual's face shape and gender, and to decide on surgery only after thorough consultation with a trusted specialist.

Dr. Byeong-yun Kwon of NANA Plastic Surgery in Sinnonhyeon explained, "Facial contouring surgery goes beyond simply improving appearance; it is a procedure that requires delicate work that considers the balance and harmony of the face shape. It is therefore important to look closely at whether detailed line design is achieved through long-curve osteotomy, whether firm double fixation is performed to prevent cheek sagging, and whether scarring is minimized through intraoral or minimal incisions."

He added, "Because this is such a difficult and demanding surgery, it is important to have it performed by experienced medical staff at a clinic with university-hospital-level systems and processes that enable safe and precise surgery, rather than at a clinic that emphasizes low prices or reviews."
