Washing, Showering
& Makeup

Starting from 3 days post-surgery, you can wash your face, shower, and wear makeup.

However, when washing your face, please do so gently and carefully to avoid altering the shape of the grafted fat.

We do not recommend hot/cold compresses as they might press on or change the shape of the grafted area, so please refrain from using them.

Ultrasonic treatments and skincare on the grafted area should be avoided for 3 months.

Applying such treatments to the grafted areas might lead to the absorption of the grafted fat.

Sensations & Healing

For 2-3 months after the surgery, please be careful not to press on the grafted area.

Especially for the forehead area, avoid any pressure from hats or facial bands as this could alter its shape.

Do take care to avoid any activities that might cause stress or significant shock to the surgery area as it might induce bleeding or bruising.

Please abstain from actions that might increase the blood pressure in the surgery area (like coughing, sneezing, bending over, etc.).

Exercise

Light exercises are allowed starting the day after surgery.

Activities such as light walking can resume the day following the surgery, while visiting the sauna is possible one month post-op. However, swimming should be avoided for 3 months due to the possibility of shape alterations from water pressure and swim cap pressure. Excessive dieting and strenuous exercises post-surgery can negatively affect the engraftment of the fat.

Managing Swelling

It might be difficult to notice the results of the surgery within the first month due to swelling.

Although the swelling can make the area appear asymmetrical, there is no need for worry as it will improve over time. Around 1-2 months post-surgery, you might feel the swelling subsiding considerably.
Depending on individual cases, a second round of fat injections might be necessary, the need for which can be determined during a follow-up visit.

Scar Care

On the 2nd or 3rd day post-surgery, disinfect the wound area where fat was extracted by yourself using the prescribed povidone stick.

Clean and dry it well before applying a DuoDERM patch cut to the size of the wound.

On the 7th day post-surgery, come in for a visit to get the wound disinfected and the stitches removed.

From the day following the stitch removal, it's okay to let water touch the wound area.

Alcohol & Smoking

Please avoid drinking and smoking for a month post-surgery.

Consuming alcohol and tobacco can negatively affect bleeding, wound healing, and can increase the risk of infections. For the best recovery, it's advised to abstain for a month.

Sleep Position

Please check the possible sleeping position for 3 months after surgery.

Week 1: Keep your neck straight when sleeping.
Elevate your upper body so your head is higher than your heart - it helps reduce swelling faster.
Don't sleep on your side or stomach; keep facing the ceiling! Also, do not lie on your side or on your stomach; sleep with your face facing the ceiling.
